When a loved one passes away people celebrate and remember their lives in many different ways.This image represents the feeling that there is always something missing and a great void left behind once a person is gone.
Over the past few years I’ve been interested in entering photography competitions in order to challenge myself as an artist. One of the absolute best photography competitions in the world is the WPPI awards. In 2019 I entered into the WPPI awards for the first time and was shocked to be awarded a silver distinction merit for my image “Missing Pieces”. Not only did this image merit a score of 87 but it also ended up winning the illustrative category! To get a score over 85 is a BIG DEAL. To win a category is something I never imagined achieving! The standards are high in this photography competition and that keeps me motivated to continue creating and entering images.
